"Avatar" , de James Cameron, y "The Hurt Locker" , de Kathryn Bigelow, ambas lideran la carrera por los premios Oscar de la Academia de Hollywood con nueve nominaciones cada uno.

"Inglourious Basterds", la cinta de Quentin Tarantino sobre la segunda guerra mundial, fue la tercera película más nominada, con ocho candidaturas, seguido por "Precious", con seis.
